海外建筑招聘求职英文面试第一句别再「My name is...」,强者都说...?

       英文自我介绍,大部分求职者起手式是「My name is…」,但这样开头其实很弱。面试官往往从第一句英文就听出你的程度是普、弱、还是强。以下几题英文面试必问题,请先尝试回答,再看自己的回答最接近弱,普,强哪一种。了解面试官真正想知道的是什么,才能回答切中要领。

 

       Q:Tell me about yourself.

       他想知道的是:你为什么适合这份工作。

    (弱) My name is George. I am 25 years old. I have a sister and a brother….

    (普) I am an engineer with 10 years experience.

    (强)I believe that I am the best candidate for this position because…

    (强)When I was working on …project, I realized that my career goal is…

      你的名字、工作都写在履历上了,面试官最关心的也不是你家有几个人,从最精采的地方开始吧,你的故事、能力、成就如何证明你能胜任这份工作。

       Q:How would people (you have worked with) describe you?

       他想知道:你跨部门合作的能力。

    (弱) I'm not sure. Probably easygoing.

    (普) People would say that I'm responsible, enthusiastic….

    (强)My supervisor would say that I always think ahead for him. For example….

      负责,有热忱都太常见、笼统,说出你的主管、不同部门同事为什么信赖你,实际的例子更有帮助。

       Q:Where do you see yourself in five years?

       他想知道:你真的在意这份工作吗?

    (弱) I would like to stay in the industry. Maybe I'll be working for…(更大的公司,面试公司对手。)

    (普) I see myself in this company, cooperating with different teams.

    (强)I hope that I'll be an account director by that time, representing client A, B, and C….

    (强)I'm open to a few options….and that's why I believe the experience here will lead me to the best decision./…and that's why I'm excited about the            

       marketing skills I'll gain here.

      这是你职涯蓝图中的理想工作,还是你只是来过个水?如果计画继续待在这里,刻画出你的成长,例如,现在面试的是专员(account executive),5年后你希望自己成为总监(account director),负责那些具体客户。计画不确定没关系,但要让面试官理解你对这份工作的重视,至少会稳定在这里多久的时间。

      Q:What is your weakness?

      他真的就是想知道:你的弱点。

    (弱) I work too hard.

    (普) Not that I can think of so far.

    (普) I'm too much of a perfectionist sometimes.

    (强)My tolerance can be low when my team members do not meet the basic requirement at work. To me, mistakes are acceptable, but not lacking self-discipline. In these cases, I communicate with the members in private and figure out how I can help each of them.

       硬把优点说成弱点,让人觉得虚假、无法意识到自己的问题。回答应该要诚实而有策略:合理说明自己的弱点,一定要补充为了改善,正进行那些努力。比起陈述情绪上的弱点,陈述自己不擅处理的状况,更容易被接受。

       Q:Why are you the best person for the position?/What would you bring to this position?

       他想知道:和别人不一样的好。

     (弱) I am willing to do my best.

     (普) My management experience and ability to take on challenges makes me the best person for this job.

     (强)My data mining ability sets me apart from other candidates. For example….

     (强)I'm not just an experienced manager. All your candidates must be experienced in communication. However….

      尽力是基本,对老板或员工来说都是。看清楚这份工作的内容、招聘条件,回溯自己的经验,找到对应的例子。「事/能力set me apart from 人」是好用的句型,突显你和其他求职者的不同。
